The latest interior design trends

At Websters Furniture we like to keep up-to-date with the latest design styles and developments around the country. The Best of Pinterest UK Interior Awards were recently revealed and confirmed some of the trends we have seen in our showrooms and requests being made by our customers. Here are some of the trends that have been identified:

1. The outdoors is being brought inside

Whilst there has been an increase in the amount of entertaining taking place outside this year, with decking and garden furniture sales on the rise, the outdoors is also being brought into the house. In particular, outdoor plants are being introduced into the home and are especially popular in the bathroom.

2. Colour is back

This year, a spectrum of colour is also popular. Rather than sticking to one or two set colours throughout the house, homeowners are now opting for many different themes, with walls, furniture, carpets and accessories available in many bright and bold colours.

3. The 70s are being revived

As well as colour seeing a revival so is 70s style and design. Pinterest have found that blocks of colour as well as different textures are popular in homes these days as well as items commonly associated with the decade. For example, shag rugs, peacock chairs and record players have all seen sales increases reflecting a feeling of nostalgia as well as the recent upsurge in vinyl sale numbers.
